OAKWOOD - Oakwood Police Department detectives are asking grocery stores in Hall County and surrounding areas to contact them if they've had any recent thefts of over-the-counter medications.

The request follows the arrest of 29-year-old Tortinto A. Christian of Decatur, who was picked up Tuesday during a sting operation at Publix in Oakwood. Cpl. Danny Sridej said Christian and a female accomplice, who has not yet been charged, have shoplifted nearly $8,000 worth of over-the-counter drugs and other items from several stores in the area.

Sridej said the two suspects concealed the drugs and other small packages of merchandise and shoplifted the items from several stores, taking between $800 and $1,500 worth of merchandise from each site. He said the suspects were seen leaving the stores in either a white Chevrolet Impala with a drive-out tag or a silver Toyota Camry with a Florida tag.

Sridej said Christian's alleged accomplice has been identified and charges are forthcoming as the investigation continues.
