Gillsville man charged after three-county chase

CLEVELAND - A Gillsville man faces numerous charges after he led law enforcement officers on a chase covering three counties Monday night. <br /> <br /> White County Chief Deputy Bob Ingram said 41-year-old Richard Massey was spotted by a White County deputy driving with an altered license plate. <br /> <br /> Ingram said Massey, who was driving a Honda Accord, was pursued from White County into Hall and later Habersham County, where he was finally stopped. <br /> <br /> The suspect, according to Ingram, ran into the wood, but was captured a short time later.<br /> Ingram said the suspect resisted arrest and had to be pepper sprayed to enable officers to take him into custody. <br /> <br /> Massey faces a long list of charges, including driving with a suspended license, no insurance, altered license plate, fleeing, and possession of methamphetamine. <br /> He is being held in the White County Detention Center. <br />
