BUFORD -- Southeast Whitfield put up a fight -- for a quarter. And then Buford overwhelmed the visitors en route to a 63-0 first round playoff victory on Friday in Buford.

The Wolves (11-0) rolled up 506 yards of offense in the win -- including 140 yards rushing and three touchdowns for Xavier Gantt -- while holding Southeast Whitfield to 117 total yards, only five of that from rushing.

Buford moves on to face Mary Persons in the Class AAAA second round next Friday.

Brett Shepherd staked the Wolves to a 7-0 lead with 6:57 left in the first quarter, but Southeast Whitfield wasn't about to roll over, and pieced together an 18-play drive to set up a field goal attempt.

Buford blocked the kick, and it was all Wolves from there.

Gantt did a lot of the damage, scoring touchdowns in the second quarter on runs of 66, 35 and 30 to help the Wolves to a 28-0 halftime lead. Gantt's work helped Buford to finish with 414 yards on the ground.

Luke Humphrey, meanwhile, passed for 92 yards and a touchdown, completing 6 of 9 attempts. His score came on a 28-yard toss to Aaron Auer in the third quarter. Jordan Perlotte (7 yards), Anthony Grant (8 yards), Joshua Blackwell (5 yards) and Christian Turner (44 yards) also added touchdown runs in the second half.

Southeast Whitfield managed just 10 yards rushing in the first half and minus-5 for the second half.
