STATE CHAMP: East Jackson's Chase Kennedy wins AAA boys title; Eagles take 2nd <b> (VIDEO) </b>

CARROLLTON -- East Jackson placed three runners in the top four of the Class AAA boys state cross country meet Saturday.<br /> <br /> But it was good only for a tie for first with Blessed Trinity with 60 points apiece. The Titans were awarded the title by virtue of having their sixth place runner finish higher than the Eagles, who took second.<br /> <br /> The Eagles' Chase Kennedy and Chandler Kennedy finished 1-2 in the individual race. Chase finished with a winning time of 16:42.91, eight seconds faster than Chandler, to bring home the Class AAA state title. Noah Hulett was fourth for East Jackson.<br /> <br /> Jose Diaz of Banks County finished eighth to help the Leopards to a seventh place team finish with 244 points. 8 West Hall was eighth with 246, Dawson County ninth with 278, Jefferson 10th with 325, and Jackson County finished 12th with 364 points.<br /> <br /> In the girls meet, Dawson County took fifth with 212 points, Jefferson was seventh with 255, and Banks County eighth with 266. Fannin County finished 12th with 292 and Lumpkin County 14th with 382.<br /> <br /> Sue Anne Moralis of East Jackson was the highest area finisher taking sixth with a time of 20:27.24. Banks County's Makayla Hewell took seventh and Kaelyn Deal Fannin County was ninth.<br /> <br /> Audrey Honiotes of Hart County won the girls state title in a time 19:26.68 and Westminster won the team title with 29 points.
