NDO taking energy assistance applications in Gainesville, 19 other communities

GAINESVILLE - Households in 20 northeast Georgia counties in which every member is age 65 and older or is home-bound due to health reasons may apply for assistance with their home heating bills effective this week.<br /> <br /> The Georgia Department of Human Services will help pay heating costs for gas or electric. One time payments will be made by check issued to the home energy suppliers on behalf of eligible households. Eligibility for the program is based on the income of all household members.
