GAINESVILLE -- Gainesville rolled on to the No. 2 seed from Region 8-AAAAA and took a 20-7 victory over Loganville on Friday in Gainesville.

The Red Elephants (7-2, 7-1 Region 8-AAAAA) did all their damage in the first half, taking a 20-0 lead at the interval.

Thanks to Gainesville's defense it was all the Red Elephants needed. Loganville managed just 111 yards for the game and tossed four interceptions in the process.

Gainesville, meanwhile, put up 296 yards, including 148 through the air for Mikey Gonzalez, who connected four times with Rodney Lackey for 66 yards and a score. Messiah Dorsey also caught a touchdown pass.

Michael Byrd also had a breakout game, as the senior running back rolled up 139 yards on 26 yards.

Gainesville will close out the regular season at Flowery Branch next week.
