Commerce routs George Walton

MONROE -- Commerce churned up 393 yards rushing en route to a 42-0 thumping of George Walton Friday night in region 8-A action.<br /> <br /> The Tigers (7-2, 5-1 Region 8-A) led 42-0 at halftime behind Caleb Brooks. The junior quarterback ran for two scores (3- and 41-yards) and passed for another. He finished with 62 yards rushing.<br /> <br /> Will Thomas paced the Commerce ground game with 161 yards, including a 62-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.<br /> <br /> Brooks scored on a 3-yard run for the Tigers first score and Cole Chancey added a 2-yard run to give them a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. they exploded in the second quarter.<br /> <br /> Brooks ripped off a 41-yard run and Thomas followed moments later with his 62-yard touchdown run. Brook then connected with J'Varius Woods on a 17-yard touchdown pass. Grant Mayberry capped the scoring with an 18-yard run.<br /> <br /> Neither team scored in the second half.<br /> <br /> Commerce closes out the regular season next week at home against Lakeview Academy.
