Police said Monday that the 17-year-old suspect was arrested overnight and faces charges that include aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
Witnesses told police that a group of males were chasing some other males, shooting at them, in the parking lot of an apartment complex Saturday night.
Police say the child was in the arms of a relative when he was struck in the arm by gunfire. No else was hurt.
The boy's grandmother Keesha Jordan said she and the child had left a birthday party shortly before encountering the shots in the parking lot.
Police say the child was taken to a hospital while conscious, breathing and in stable condition.
