Hunters find human remains in wooded area of Barrow Co.

AUBURN - Barrow County Sheriff's Office investigators are working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to determine the identity of human remains found in a wooded area near Auburn on Saturday.<br />

Two hunters found the remains along Hill's Shop Road, according to a statement from the Sheriff's Office.<br />
<br />
The statement said investigators believed that the remains had been at the site for an extended period of time. About 65-percent of the deceased person's bones were found at the scene. In addition, investigators excavated the scene and found several items of evidence, including parts of clothing. <br />
<br />
At this point, investigators are unsure of the deceased person's gender or age.<br />
<br />
The statement said there was no sign of trauma, but at this point, investigators are unsure of the cause of death.<br />
<br />
The Barrow County Sheriff's Office is reviewing open missing persons cases.
