Mill Creek drops Collins Hill to stay in 7-AAAAAA title hunt

HOSCHTON -- Mill Creek still has a shot at the Region 7-AAAAAA title, and the Hawks let everyone know they are ready for that challenge on Friday.<br /> <br /> Mill Creek smacked Collins Hill 51-7 in Hoschton, a result that -- combined with Peachtree Ridge's win over Norcross and North Gwinnett's defeat of Duluth -- made for a four-way tie at the top of 7-AAAAAA.<br /> <br /> The Hawks still have Norcross and Peachtree Ridge left on the schedule, and, judging by Friday, they may be getting the two games at just the right time.<br /> <br /> Mill Creek put up 431 yards of offense and held Collins Hill to 175 total yards -- keeping the Eagles hemmed on their side of the field until late in the fourth quarter.<br /> <br /> Johnathan Hawkins led the assault for Mill Creek (5-3, 4-1 Region 7-AAAAAA), rushing for 132 yards and four touchdowns on 25 carries. His three scores made it 20-0 by the second quarter. Brian Efianayi also rushed for 73 yards and two scores on 13 carries, while Jason Chase added 68 yards and a score. <br /> <br /> Quarterback Daniel David put up 35 yards rushing and 123 yards passing, completing 8 of 10 attempts.<br /> <br /> Mill Creek will look to close strong next week, traveling to face Norcross.
