No. 10 UNG women's soccer claims battle of unbeatens over No. 17 Clayton St.

DAHLONGEA -- The 10th-ranked University of North Georgia women's soccer team needed less than six minutes to break No. 17 Clayton State's seven-match shutout streak. The Nighthawks (12-1-0, 6-0-0 PBC) used a dominant second half to put away the Lakers (12-2-0, 7-1-0 PBC) and end one of the nation's longest win streaks, taking the contest 5-0.<br />

Sophomore Jacy Ramey opened up the scoring in the sixth minute, heading in a ball to the lower right corner from Jordan Draughon.<br />
<br />
Draughon picked up another assist in the 34th when Brynn Finneran put one in the back of the net to extend the North Georgia lead to 2-0.<br />
<br />
The Nighthawks, the nation's NCAA Division II scoring leader, scored three more goals in the first 15 minutes following intermission. Sophomore Sophia Matonak picked up the first on a midfield ball from Cicely Taliaferro in the 56th minute.<br />

Taliaferro joined in on the goal-scoring fest less than two minutes later heading home a corner from fellow senior Megan Morrow. Ramey added her fifth goal of the season in the 60th, heading home a long ball from Jessica Allen.<br />

Mallory Sayre moves to 12-1-0 on goal this season and picks up her fifth shutout of the year.<br />
<br />
North Georgia will head to Pembroke, North Carolina this weekend to take on UNC Pembroke. Saturday's kickoff is set for 5 p.m., at Varsity Grounds.
