3rd hearing, first council vote on Oakwood tax hike set for Mon.

OAKWOOD - The third of of three planned public hearings on a proposed 50 percent property tax hike in Oakwood is scheduled Monday - after which the city council is expected to vote on the plan.<br />

City Manager Stan Brown has said the new rate would be four mills, up from the current 2.658 mills and would be effective New Year's Day.<br />

Monday's hearing is at 6:00 at Oakwood City Hall. After the hearing, the city council is expected to hold its first vote on the matter as part of the reguar monthly council meeting. A second reading, or vote, is scheduled for Oct. 20 during a 4:00 special meeting.
