House committee on role of feds in education to meet in Gainesville

ATLANTA - The House Study Committee on the Role of the Federal Government in Education will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, October 21, at 10:00 a.m. in the Continuing Educatiion Building on the University of North Georgia, Gainesville Campus. <br /> <br /> The committee is co-chaired by Rep. Brooks Coleman (R-Duluth) and Rep. Carl Rogers (R-Gainesville). The committee is charged with reviewing the effects of the federal government's ties to education in Georgia, including the Common Core State Standards. <br /> <br /> Those interested in being on the agenda to present a topic to the committee should contact Cortney Gillham at [email protected]. Presentations must be submitted by Friday, October 17 at 5:00 p.m. <br /> <br /> Presenters are required to bring and distribute 25 copies of his or her presentation for the committee members prior to the start of the meeting. The committee asks that presentations be Georgia specific and provide specific examples, if possible.
State Rep. Carl Rogers of Gainesville is a co-chair of the committee.
