12 Gainesville area tradesmen to be honored next week

GAINESVILLE - "Master Craftsmen... Builders of America" is part of the Featherbone Communiversity Master Series Program in partnership with Lanier Technical College. <br /> <br /> The 2014 Master Craftsmen Awards will be presented to 12 skilled tradesmen from north Georgia on Thursday, October 16 at Featherbone Communiversity (Lanier Tech MDC Rotunda), 999 Chestnut Street in Gainesville. <br /> <br /> The event is open to the public with a light breakfast 8:30-9:00 a.m. The Awards Program begins at 9:00 a.m. <br /> <br /> In addition to recognizing individuals with outstanding skills in their trade, the event will include a forum moderated by State Senator Butch Miller and keynote speaker Ashley Brown, Executive Director of SkillsUSA Georgia. SkillsUSA Georgia is the Career and Technical Student Organization for students enrolled in Architecture, Construction, Communication and Transportation (ACCT), Cosmetology, and Public Safety Pathways in Georgia's secondary schools. SkillsUSA is a national, nonprofit student organization that has developed more than 10 million workers through active partnerships between employers and educators.<br /> <br /> The Master Craftsmen program was designed to work in conjunction with Governor Deal's "Go Build Georgia" campaign.
