Junior keeper Mallory Sayre was named the Peach Belt AstroTurf Goalkeeper of the Week by the league office Monday morning. It is the second time Sayre has earned the honor in the past three weeks.
Sayre gave up only one goal in 180 minutes of action, recording her fourth shutout of the season as the Nighthawks stayed perfect in conference action. She made two saves and gave up a goal in the last 10 minutes with her team up 7-0 against Young Harris.
The Snellville native followed that up with a four-save masterpiece in a 2-0 win at Armstrong, handing the Pirates their first shutout in 17 matches. Sayre made a key save on a point-blank shot in the 63rd minute, UNG countered and scored in that same minute to put the game away.
The Nighthawk keeper leads the PBC with a 0.50 goals against average and is tied for the league lead with only five goals allowed.
North Georgia will put its 3-0-0 PBC record on the line this week as Montevallo comes to town for a Wednesday afternoon matchup. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m., at the UNG Soccer Complex.
