ATHENS, Ga. (AP) Athens police say a woman was not trying to shoplift when she dropped her newborn son on his head in a grocery store.
Lt. Mark Magnuson told the Athens Banner-Herald that video surveillance images confirmed what the Madison County woman told police. She said she had been rocking the child in her arms when he wiggled and slipped from her grip. Police said the shoplifting allegation was made by a store employee.
The child was initially taken to an Athens hospital Wednesday and then was flown to an Atlanta hospital. Police said Friday the child is doing well.
