The Marietta Daily Journal reported Thursday ( http://bit.ly/K8cwtA ) that the idea was one of six that David Morgan presented during a work session earlier this week. The ideas are specifically focused on improving education in the area of south Cobb County he represents.
Morgan says most parents in his area are selective about the extracurricular events they choose to participate in - like football games and graduation ceremonies - but are absent from parent-teacher conferences.
Superintendent Michael Hinojosa says the idea makes him uncomfortable and that it's not the board's place to force parents into action.
Some members questioned the logistics and legality of the proposal.
