Autopsy reveals Dawsonville men accidentally drowned

DAWSONVILLE - The autopsy results for two Dawsonville men that went missing after a fishing trip on January 2 reveal the two died by drowning, compunded with hypothermia according to GBI spokeswoman Sherry Lang.

"Today the GBI's medical examiners completed autopsy examinations of Mason Cox and David Wood and the results of those autopsy examinations concluded that the manner of death was accidental and the cause of death was drowning compunded by hypothermia," said Lang.

The bodies of Mason Cox and David Wood, both 20, were found in Lake Lanier on Friday. Lang said toxicology reports were pending.

Meanwhile, funeral services for David Wood have been scheduled for Saturday at First Baptist Church of Dawsonville. (See link to obituary below)
