PEACHTREE CITY - Severe storms and the potential for isolated tornadoes are in the forecast for Georgia as the state recovers from record-breaking cold.

The National Weather Service says that strong thunderstorms appear possible Friday night and Saturday, and that isolated tornadoes will be possible with any thunderstorms that become severe. Heavy rainfall, from one-half to two inches in some places, is also possible - and this could lead to some river and/or creek flooding.

The severe weather threat comes after temperatures finally climbed above freezing across much of Georgia late Wednesday morning.
