CUMMING - Eighteen volunteers from several metro Atlanta offices and divisions of Ernst & Young spent several hours recently volunteering on the Indian Seats Trail at Forsyth County's Sawnee Mountain Preserve. The volunteers helped reroute and build approximately 500 feet of new trail and rehabilitate another approximately 1,000 feet of trail.
Due to the heavy rains this summer, several sections of the trail needed to be either rerouted and rebuilt or rehabilitated. This work was planned to be undertaken later this year, but the volunteers enabled it to be completed much sooner.
"Now our trail visitors have an improved trail route through that area," said the county's Outdoor Division Manager Matthew Pate. "The volunteers' assistance was greatly appreciated."
