Hearing next week on proposed $95.9M Forsyth Co. budget

CUMMING - The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing Thursday, October 3 at 5 p.m. to present the proposed 2014 operating budget for Forsyth County.

The hearing will be held in the Commissioners Meeting Room (Suite 220) in the Forsyth County Administration Building, located at 110 E. Main Street in Cumming.

The $95.9 General Fund proposal is available for public review in the office of the Board of Commissioners (Suite 210) in the Forsyth County Administration Building, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The budget is also available for review online at www.forsythco.com. Adoption of the 2014 budget is tentatively slated for October 17.

The budget breakdown is as follows:

Judical: $11.5 million
General Government: $21.7 million
Public Safety: $36 million
Health & Welfare: $2.3 million
Parks & Recreation and Culture: $13.3 million
Housing and Development: $5.2 million
Other: $5.7 million
