Football: Trojans edge up one spot, most stay the same in latest rankings

The six area teams stayed the same, though two of them found new places in the latest Georgia Sports Writers Association high school football rankings, released Tuesday.

North Hall moved up one place in Class AAA, taking up position at No. 4. The Trojans (3-0) were off last week but made the move after former No. 2 St. Pius fell to Class AA No. 1 Lovett. North Hall will play host to Dawson County (3-1) on Friday.

Meanwhile, Mill Creek (3-1) slipped just two spots to No. 7 in Class AAAAAA after a 31-30 loss to No. 4 Peachtree Ridge. The Hawks will take on Norcross (2-2) this Friday in a key Region 7-AAAAAA battle.

Elsewhere, Buford stayed at No. 1 in Class AAA. The Wolves (3-0) will play host to Banks County (0-4) on Friday. In Class AAAAA, Gainesville (3-1) remained No. 5 and will travel to take on Heritage, Conyers (3-1) on Friday. In Class AA, Jefferson held at No. 7. The Dragons (2-1) will play host to Greene County (1-2) on Friday. And, in Class AAAAAA, North Gwinnett is still No. 1. The Bulldogs (4-0) will take a bye this week before traveling to take on Duluth on Oct. 4.
