North Georgia's Kelly Penston scored an unassisted goal at the 62:15 mark when she was in the right place to collect a rebound that LMC goalie Alicia Pierson could not collect. The senior forward found the back of the net for the third time with the deposit also being her second game-winning goal.
After scoreless first half that saw the Nighthawks outshoot the Bobcats 11-6, UNG continued to apply the offensive pressure holding an 11-5 advantage in shots after half. North Georgia's offensive attack featured balance as 11 different players tallied shots in the contest.
UNG also held an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Mallory Sayre pitched her second shutout of the season in goal recording saves on all four of Lees-McRae's on-target shots.
North Georgia, which has won three consecutive matches since dropping the season opener, will return to action on September 17 with a non-conference road trip to Carrollton, Ga. to take on the University of West Georgia. Match time is set for 6:00 PM.
