Gastley discovered her passion for teaching while working in the Labor and Delivery/Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Stephens County Hospital.
"I taught the neonatal resuscitation class each year for the staff at the hospital," she said. "I really enjoyed it and when I began looking to further my education, I knew that teaching would be my ultimate goal."
A Registered Nurse for 12 years, Gastley received her Associate degree in nursing from North Georgia College (now University of North Georgia) in 2001. Recently she took advantage of the RN to MSN bridge at Walden University to complete her Master of Science in Nursing Education.
For North Georgia Tech, Gastley teaches the "core classes" for NGTC health programs such as Clinical Lab Technology, Nursing, Medical Assisting, Pharmacy Technology, and more. Her schedule for her first semester as a college instructor includes Introduction to Health Care, Medical Terminology, and Anatomy & Physiology.
Gastley lives in Toccoa with husband, Josh, who is a Nurse Practitioner, and their daughter, Carli.
