The Wolves led the way with some cold revenge over Gainesville in a battle of state champs, as Buford raced to a 17-0 lead and never let the Red Elephants develop a rhythm in a 38-14 win at City Park.
Meanwhile, North Hall ran wild in the second half on Johnson, 63-6 in Oakwood, while Jefferson crushed neighbor and rival Jackson County, 49-0. North Forsyth also halted Dawson County's two-game win streak, 31-0, and is now 2-0 itself. And White County rolled up 372 yards in a 31-0 win over rival Lumpkin County.
There were also some thrilling fights to the finish, including at Chestatee, where the War Eagles' used a fourth quarter two-point conversion to make the difference in a 15-14 win over West Hall. The Spartans just missed a last-gasp field goal that would have cinched a victory.
Commerce also battled back for its first win, scoring 19 fourth quarter points to down East Jackson 19-7.
Fannin County also fought past Union County in a wild contest, cradling an onside kick attempt to seal 43-35 victory.
Stephens County also moved to 2-0 with a lopsided 49-14 defeat of old rival Habersham Central.
In, Flowery Branch, West Forsyth dealt the Falcons a tough, 35-21 defeat -- it was the same position the Branch found itself in last season (0-2), before going on to win the Region 8-AAAAA crown.
