Don McNeal, former Flowery Branch mayor, dies

FLOWERY BRANCH - A former mayor and city councilman in Flowery Branch has died.

Don McNeal died Thursday at Northeast Georgia Medical Center at the age of 76.

He was the owner of Baxter's Shoe Outlet for more than 20 years and was a youth baseball, basketball and football coach for Flowery Branch Elementary School.

McNeal was retired from the state of Georgia Department of Public Safety and was currently employed by Hall County Corrections Road Maintenance.

The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 at Little- Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville.
