CUMMING - Georgia DOT announces a traffic shift is scheduled starting Friday night at the State Route 141/Bethelview Road at State Route 9 intersection improvement project, if weather permits.

The change will involve about 250 feet of each roadway approaching the intersection and the work should be completed by 8:00 Saturday morning. Lane closures will be required and traffic will be delayed in the area as the traffic shift occurs.

DOT says shifting traffic from its original location allows traffic to continue to flow in the newly built section of roadway while work occurs in the original lanes.

This $4.6 million project involves reconstructing the existing intersection, creating two through lanes, two left turning lanes and a right turning lane for each leg of the intersection. The project also upgrades the traffic signal equipment and constructs sidewalks. The project completion date is April 30, 2014.
