BLAIRSVILLE - Union County authorities have charged a former Florida police officer with murder in the shooting death of his daughter Sunday.

According to Fox 5, 80 year old Frank Miller allegedly shot and killed his daughter, 59-year-old Collen Grant, and shot his great-grandson in the leg.

The young man was outside the Miller Cove Road residence when authorities responded to the 911 call.

"He gave us a good layout of the house, who was in the house, that the only living person in there was his great-grandfather," Union County Sheriff Mack Mason told Fox 5.

Miller held authorities at bay for several hours before officers went in.

"They rammed the door, made entry, flash bang grenade and then tazed him," Mason told the TV station.

Mason said there were about 40 loaded firearms in the house and that the situation could have been much worse.

The great-grandson is recovering, according to Fox 5.

Miller faced malice murder and aggravated assault charges Monday.
