McKinnon had help. Georgia Southern finished the game with 576 rushing yards and 650 yards of total offense. Eight different Eagles rushed for at least a touchdown.
The 77 points was the second highest point total in Georgia Southern history and only the sixth time the Eagles scored 70-plus points since 2001.
The Eagles' also dominated Savannah State on defense.
Meanwhile, the Tigers couldn't keep their defense off the field, going three-and-out on their first five possessions and converting only seven first downs in the game.
Sophomore quarterback Zach Hutchenson was a bright spot for Savannah State. He came off the bench in the third quarter and led the Tigers to their only touchdown.
Georgia Southern averaged an NCAA-best 399 rushing yards per game last season.
