Rabid raccoon found in north Hall Co.

GAINESVILLE - Hall County Animal Control has reported another confirmed rabies case in the county - the ninth one for the year.

The latest case happened in the Arbor Road area of north Hall County where a dog came into contact with a rabid raccoon. The raccoon was shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab in Decatur for testing, and Hall County authorities said they were informed Monday the animal tested positive for the disease.

Positive alert signs have been posted in the area where the raccoon was found. Anyone who sees other animals acting suspiciously in that area is asked to call
Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830.
