Susan Baker, spokesperson for HEMC, said the cooperative will be celebrating years of innovation, dependability, and commitment with one of our most exciting annual meetings yet.
The annual meeting for members will be held Thursday, July 25, at the Habersham Ninth Grade Academy (former Habersham Central High School), 171 Raider Circle, Mt. Airy. Registered members who attend will receive a one-of-a-kind HEMC history book, "Heart of a Co-op," by author Emory Jones and designer Karen Casey, both of White County.
Registration begins at 3 p.m. and the business session get underway at 6:30 p.m.
During the business session, directors will be elected for three-year terms. Those nominated by the nominating committee for the open East District position are David Crouch of Turnerville (incumbent), and David Wall of Clarkesville. The nominees for the two open West District positions are Ray Meaders of Cleveland and Dan Thurmond of Sautee, both incumbents. Voting for the election will be electronic this year, with members voting on the same machines used in both state and national elections.
Prior to the business portion, there will be entertainment by The Chuck Wagon Gang.
