Republican Tony Beatty announced his candidacy for the District 1 post over the weekend at a kickoff rally at Allied Label Printing Systems in Flowery Branch with about 50 people in attendance.
In a press statement, Beatty said he chose Allied as a backdrop for his announcement because he wants to make a push for business growth in the county.
"I am standing in front of one South Hall's many manufacturing facilities to ask for your help. Creating an environment for industry to grow is one of the
important tasks of local government. If elected, I will work to get and keep government out of the way of business, so citizens have more opportunities to achieve success and get a job," said Beatty.
Beatty has been a communications and marketing consultant for six years. He previously worked in the construction industry, according to the press statement.
Beatty said he served as Chairman and Treasurer of both the College Republicans and the Political Science Student Association at North Georgia College and State University. He was Treasurer for the Lanier Tea Party Patriots from 2011-2013. He also served as Political Director for the Georgia Association of College Republicans.
Craig Lutz said a couple of weeks ago he will not run for re-election to the Hall County Commission.
