Specifically, the grant will provide scholarships to qualified GED students to cover the required $160 testing fee. Students with financial needs must be recommended by their instructors and must complete an application in order to be eligible to receive the scholarship.
According to Cynthia Brown, Director of the NGTC Foundation, the grant will allow 43 students to have access to the exam.
Two other groups in the immediate Gainesville area also received grants: the Forsyth County Certified Literate Community Program and Volunteers for Literacy of Habersham County.
