GAINESVILLE - The Arts Council is preparing to host Gainesville's annual Patriotic Pops Concert for the first time.

It was announced in March that the amphitheater at the The Arts Council Smithgall Arts Center would be the venue this year and that the concert would be performed by the Northwinds Symphonic Band. That followed the disbanding of the Gainesville Symphony Orchestra which had performed the annual July 4 concert at Brenau University's amphitheater. (See earlier story. Link below.)

As in past years, the concert will actually be held July 3. Gates will open at 6:00 for picnickers and the concert will start at 8:00.

Tickets $18 Adults; $12 Students/Seniors (65+). BBQ Dinner for $8 will also
be available. 7% tax is applicable to all ticket sales. For tickets call
770-534-2787 or visit Street SW @ West Academy.
The Northwinds Symphonic Band performs it's annual Memorial Day concert at First Baptist Church on Green Strreet in 2008.
