CUMMING - At a recent meeting, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners recognized several individuals for the lifesaving efforts they exhibited during a recent baseball game at Forsyth County's Bennett Park.

When a player's father passed out in the parking lot before the game, umpire Chase Hammet called 911 and Forsyth County Parks and Recreation employee Thomas Jennings retrieved the Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Citizens Nitza Hubbard, Kim DeLeon and Rhonda Staton administered CPR on the Man. With the help of CPR and the AED, he began breathing by the time public safety personnel arrived on scene.

Forsyth County Parks and Recreation installed AEDs at all active Forsyth County parks in 2003.
Commissioner Cindy Jones Mills, far right, with the honorees.
