Atlanta police: $500,000 in Rolex watches stolen

ATLANTA (AP) Police say burglars who smashed into an Atlanta jewelry store needed half a minute to steal Rolex watches worth an estimated half-million dollars.

Police suspect at least five men broke into the Mayors Jewelers store in Lenox Square Mall Friday evening. Atlanta police Sgt. Greg Lyon says they smashed a display case with hammers and grabbed at least 20 watches worth at least $500,000.

Lyon says the burglars were inside the store only about 30 seconds and fled in a white van that police later found empty a short distance from the store.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance video from inside the store for clues to help identify the thieves.
