ATLANTA -- Darvin Ham, a former Atlanta player who spent the last two seasons on the Los Angeles Lakers' staff, has been named a Hawks assistant coach.

Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer on Saturday said Ham "has a great feel for the game."

Budenholzer is completing his duties as a San Antonio Spurs assistant through the NBA Finals. He was named the Hawks' coach on May 28. Quin Snyder, a former assistant with the Lakers and 76ers and former coach at Missouri, was Budenholzer's first hire.

Ham, from Texas Tech, played for the Hawks in the 2002-03 season. He also played with Denver, Indiana, Washington, Milwaukee and Detroit in his eight-year career.

Before joining the Lakers, Ham was the head coach of the New Mexico Thunderbirds of the NBA Development League.
