Oakwood Police Investigator Danny Sridej said Joshua Brian Randolph is believed to be involved in credit card and identity fraud in the set-up of an online newspaper "The Gainesville Observer."
"The name, the person, that is highlighted in that website as the lead editor - Kevin Cobb - is a fictitious name, made up by Joshua Randolph," said Sridej.
Sridej said Randolph, using the name Kevin Cobb, offered employment to legitimate reporters and then used their personal information to obtain credit from vendors.
Sridej said he has recovered merchandise, office equipment, furniture and a vehicle that Randolph obtained using fraudulent means.
"[We urge] caution to anyone who might post resumes or other person information to that web site [gainesvilleobserver.com] because it's going to be compromised," said Sridej.
Sridej said Randolph set up the fraudulent business while he was out on bond from charges that stemmed from the Gainesville Heat fraud. He said the case remains under investigation and charges are pending in the case.
