So, now we have our nation's highest elected officials saying "I know nothing". Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says "I know nothing about Benghazi, and "what difference does it make?" Attorney General Eric Holder says "I know nothing" about the Justice Department's illegal spying on the press. I turned that over to an underling. President Obama says "I know nothing" about the IRS scandal. "I only learned about it three days ago." I am amazed our mainstream media has not mentioned that we once had a national political party called the "Know Nothings". and made a comparison. No, I am not kidding; look it up. There WAS a Know Nothing political party. Just prior to the Civil War America's two-party system was splintering. Whigs were declining. Democrats were growing in the big inner cities. Freesoilers were forming. Republicans were on the horizon. The Know Nothing Party grew out of a couple of secret orders: the Order of United Americans and the Order of the Star Spangled Banner. It grew in Boston, New York, Chicago and other cities in opposition to the growing influence of Irish Catholics and other immigrants. Levi Boone, the Mayor of Chicago, was a prominent Know Nothing leader. Ohio was a stronghold. They got the nick-name because when members were asked what their secret order stood for, they answered "I know nothing." Whatever it meant in American history, you watch it today: when Obama, Holder and Clinton are asked about their three scandals in Washington, their stock answer is "I know nothing." <br />
