Motorcyclist seriously hurt in weekend wreck

CLEVELAND - The operator of a motorcycle suffered serious injuries Saturday in a two-vehicle accident on Helen Highway at Smokerise Drive.

White County Sheriff's Office spokesman Capt. Tim Chapman said the wreck involved a motorcycle and a passenger car.

According to Chapman, the car was stopped to make a turn onto Joe Black Road. The motorcycle was not able to stop and its operator tried to go around the car, but sideswiped it.

Chapman said the driver of the motorcycle had visible injuries to his face and shoulder. He was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center by a White County Emergency Medical Service ambulance.
