GAINESVILLE - A licensed master captain on Lake Lanier has started a new service designed to help people avoid boating under the influence and BUI-related tragedy.

According to its website, the company SAFENAV offers a service where they'll take your call, pilot a dinghy to your boat, and pilot it back to its home if you have had too much to drink.

The BUI-Buster call costs $125.

The owner of the company, Jeff Perfater, told Channel 2 the fee is minimal compared to the costs of BUI, injury and damage to boats.

Perfater told the TV station he was inspired by an alleged BUI crash on the lake last summer that killed two boys.
