Allison Woodward of Unicoi, Tenn., also held onto her first-round lead, ending with a 69-73-142, to pace the Girls Division by three strokes and earn medalist honors. Her performance helped fend off Dawsonville's Madison Caldwell, who tied for third at 7-over-par 149.

The Preseason Junior at Château Élan is one of 12 events held as part of the IMG Academy Preseason Series. This Series offers members the opportunity to start building Performance Based Entry status before application deadlines arrive for summer Open and Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Series events.
Smith, playing in his first-ever AJGA event, birdied Nos. 12-14 to build enough momentum to carry him into the top spot.
"I played all three of the holes really well," Smith said. "[I hit] short irons to about 10 feet and all of the putts went in. Once I made birdie on those three holes I felt like I had a great chance."
In the Boys Division, Noah Combs of Pikeville, Ky., finished one stroke behind Smith with an even-par 142. John Hayden of Birmingham, Ala., Hunter Oxford of Charlotte, N.C., and Nolan Ray of Brentwood, Tenn., finished in a three-way tie for third at one-over-par 143.
The Girls Division medalist Woodward maintained her first round lead by keeping mindset on the hole in front of her, overcoming a front-nine score of 3-over-par 38 to birdie two of her last four holes.
"I stayed in the moment," Woodward said. "I didn't get ahead of myself on any shot."
Finishing second in the Girls Division was Diane Lim of Norcross, Ga., who shot a 3-over-par 145, three shots behind Woodward. Jenny Buchanan of Loudonville, N.Y..
