Home in Royal Lakes subdivision destroyed by fire

FLOWERY BRANCH - Fire investigators are still not sure what sparked a fire that destroyed a 6,000 square-foot home on Park Royal Drive in the Royal Lakes subdivision in south Hall County Friday morning.

Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said a neighbor called 911 just before 5 a.m. to report fire coming from the back of the house.

Kimbrell said Gainesville City firefighters assisted with containing the fire.

He said the homeowners were staying at their lake home at the time of the blaze.

Kimbrell estimated the cost of the property in the $600-700,000 range.
