Basketball: Wheeler named new Lady Vikings coach

GAINESVILLE -- East Hall Athletic Director George Morgan announced Tuesday that Justin Wheeler has been named the new girls basketball coach.

Wheeler was approved at Monday's Board of Education meeting. Wheeler is replacing Joey Rider, who resigned following the 2012-13 season.

For the past year, Wheeler has coached the 9th-grade girls' basketball team at Peachtree Ridge. In addition, he served as an assistant to the boys' varsity team.

Prior to that, while working toward his master's degree at Georgia State University, he served for two years as a graduate assistant for the Panthers men's team under head coach Ron Hunter.
