Johnson's McKenzie headed to play basketball at Kansas JUCO

Johnson's Montrell McKenzie recently signed a full scholarship to play basketball at Barton College in Great Bend, Kan.

Barton is traditionally one of the top junior colleges in the nation, playing in the Jayhawk Coference.

Montrell racked up numerous accomplishments this season in leading Johnson to a school-record 24 wins and the Region 8-AAAA championship, including:

-- 8-AAAA Player of the Year
-- Lineage of Champions first team All-State
-- AJC second team All-State
-- Georgia Sportswriters second team All-State
-- 2012 Lanierland Tournament first team
