The meeting was held Wednesday evening and was similar to an open house. Large maps and posters addressing issues were displayed in a self-guided tour format.
Visitors were given information sheets and stickers upon entering, which supplied details about each poster. The posters featured information and assessment on current traffic or transportation problems. The stickers were used to note the issues visitors felt were most important.
Citizens were able also able to voice their concerns with an online survey (see link below.)
City of Gainesville and Hall County officials were also available for questions, as well as administrators from Pond.
"We're asking the community to help us identify needs," said Allie Looft, a land use and transportation planner at Pond. "We're asking people to identify their goals for the plan, whether its walk-ability or managing traffic or roadway safety, and just to educate the community about the plan."
"We've identified some needs and were asking the community to identify the needs that you see," Looft said.
The next public meetings will be held June 27 and August 1 at 5:30 pm at the civic center.
Aerial maps of the city were available to pinpoint problem areas.
