GAINESVILLE - The Culinary and Nutrition Services department at Lanier Village Estates (LVE) in Gainesville was presented with a "Goldie" accolade at the Third Annual FoodService Director Magazine's Goldies ceremony which celebrates the gold standard in high-volume food service.

LVE's winning entry involves a program that melts down glass bottles into serviceware.
Resident Esther Safford teamed up with Culinary and Nutrition Director Dave McTigue to take on the challenge, using minimal resources, the main thing being a standard kiln. This award-winning idea has transformed everyday waste into culinary masterpieces and has become a dining room favorite at LVE.
