FLOWERY BRANCH -- After a storming late-season rebound, the Flowery Branch boys tennis team saw its campaign come to an end on Monday at the hands of Cambridge.

The Falcons fell 3-0 in the second round of the Class AAAAA playoffs, halting a surge that included the Region 8-AAAAA title.

Flowery Branch fell at No. 1 singles and in both doubles points to seal the outcome.

"Cambridge was a tough team top-to-bottom; they put the pressure on us and kept it on," Falcons coach Todd Vokal said. "You could tell they came ready to play."

Beau Millwood was up a set at No. 2 singles for the Falcons, but Cambridge claimed the three points to bring the match to an end.

Despite the defeat, Vokal had plenty of praise for a team that battled back from an early season setback that included four matches being forfeited due to fielding an ineligible player.

"We had to go through a lot of adversity, and I'm very proud of my guys and the way they handled things this season," Vokal said. " They really came together and started playing for each other and for the school."
