BETHELEHEM -- The only member of Gainesville's starting rotation not to pitch a no-hitter this season joined his teammates in an illustrious triumvirate on Monday when Chandler Newton pitched a no-hitter in the Red Elephants' 15-0 defeat of Apalachee.

The junior also struck out six Wildcats batters, as he tossed a complete game and Gainesville (20-3, 11-2 Region 8-AAAAA) moved one win from a region championship.

Sims Griffith helped pace the Red Elephants' offensive onslaught, producing three hits and three RBIs, while Michael Gettys also had three hits and an RBI. Brandon Sewell also had two hits and drove in two runs, and Caleb Whitenton had a hit and two RBIs. Drew Wright also had a hit and an RBI.

The Red Elephants play host to Apalachee on Wednesday at Ivey-Watson Field.
