Track: GHS grabs two gold medals on final day of 8-AAAAA meet

LOGANVILLE -- Gainesville's Marcquel Woodard and Sara Hayes each nabbed first place finishes, while Flowery Branch also produced four top three results on the final day of the Region 8-AAAAA track championships on Thursday in Loganville.

Woodard won the 800 meters with a time of 2:01 and also finished second in the 400 at 51.13.

Meanwhile, Lady Red Elephants standout Hayes also ran to gold in the 800, finishing in 2:24. Lady Falcons runner Ellie Tanner also took third in the race (2:28).

Cassie Ward also finished third in the girls 3,200 (12:17), while the girls 4x400 relay team finished third in 4:11.

The Falcons also captured second in the boy 3,200 behind James Slavik's 10:02 performance.

Flowery Branch's girls ended the competition in fourth place, while Gainesville's boys were fifth.
